This Privacy Policy explains how Leisure Scout ("we," "us," or "our"), operated by Marc-Olivier Fortier (NEQ: 2282166075), collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use the Leisure Scout mobile application ("the App").
We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and applicable privacy laws.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Email address — required for account creation and authentication
- Username — optional display name
- City and location — to find activities near you; precise GPS coordinates only if you grant location permission
- Activity preferences — your selected interests, genres, sports, cuisine preferences, and custom interests entered during onboarding
- Search history — records of searches you run and results returned
- Feedback — thumbs up/down ratings on activity suggestions
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device information — device type, operating system version, app version
- Usage data — features used, screens viewed, search frequency
- Crash reports — error logs to help us improve the App
2.3 Information we do NOT collect
- Payment card information (handled entirely by Apple App Store / Google Play)
- Precise real-time location without your explicit permission
- Contacts, photos, or other device data
- Social media profiles or credentials
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Generate personalized activity recommendations based on your preferences
- Send you monthly activity digest emails (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- Improve the App's AI recommendation quality over time
- Respond to customer support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information for:
- Selling to third parties
- Targeted advertising based on your personal profile
- Automated profiling that produces legal effects
4. AI Processing
Your preferences and search history are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI to generate personalized recommendations. This processing occurs on Anthropic's servers. Anonymized query data (city, time window, general preference categories) is sent to Anthropic — your email address, username, and precise location are never included in AI queries.

5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase servers located in the United States. Supabase maintains SOC 2 Type II compliance and implements industry-standard security measures including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+)
- Encryption at rest (AES-256)
- Row-level security policies
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:
- Your profile and preferences are deleted within 30 days
- Search history is deleted within 30 days
- Anonymized aggregate usage data may be retained indefinitely
8. Your Rights
Under Quebec's Law 25 and PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of your personal information
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and personal data
- Portability — request your data in a portable format
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent to data processing (this may require account deletion)
- Complaint — file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI)

9. Children's Privacy
The App is available to users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

10. Advertising
The App displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) to serve relevant ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
11. Location Data
The App requests location permission to automatically detect your city. We use your general location (city level) for recommendations — we do not track or store your precise real-time location. You can deny location permission and manually enter your city instead.
12. Communications
We may send you:
- Transactional emails — account confirmation, password reset (cannot be opted out)
- Monthly activity digest — personalized event recommendations (can be unsubscribed from within the App or by emailing us)
- Service updates — important changes to the App or these policies (cannot be opted out)
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
